The Human Form—A Form of the Immutable Energy
The universe is a closed system, meaning that the total amount of energy in the universe will never change. Energy cannot be created or destroyed anew. But it is always changing from one form into another.
The change of energy. It is a fundamental law of nature. This change is ongoing. The movement of the planets, the succession of days, the progress of the seasons, the birth and growth of living things, and all the occurrences that greet our eyes are manifestations of the same unchanging totality of energy in its myriad forms.
From the profound symbolic perspective of the Hindu spiritual tradition, Lord Shiva is understood to be in a state of constant manifestation in the form of the Shiva Lingam, which symbolizes the totality of this universe.
The Shiva Lingam, the symbol of wholeness, within which the movements of the universe are going on as innumerable transformations of energy. But underneath all these changes there is the unchanged whole.
Similarly, the human body can also be symbolically understood as a form of linga. This human form is a closed system that holds within it the ever-changing expressions of energy.
When one comes to recognize the linga form, not as an intellectual concept but as a living reality within oneself, through the grace of the guru, a profound transformation takes place.
And then one realizes:
“I” am not a separate being.
All that appears to be happening “inside me”
is itself a transformation of the This realization itself represents a transformation of the energy that embodies the sense of duality that arose from identifying oneself with the watarises from identifying gradually dissolves.
Beyond the feeling of being a separate individual being, one perceives oneself as a form of the unchanging totality of energy—the natural state of liberated existence, the state of the Mukta Purusha.
Then…
Inner and outer…
Breathe in, breathe out…
Body & soul…
Being and nonbeing…
The known and the knower…
– all such dualities are dissolved, and there is only the non-dual One.”
This is not just seeing Shiva out. This experience is it itself.
It is to know oneself as the sum total of the unchanging energy that shines within.
