What Is the Nature of Pure Being?
The five sense faculties—body, mouth, eyes, ears, and nose—do not manifest as sensations ; yet, the form is present.
The Prāṇas do not manifest merely as the movement of breath; yet, Prāṇas are present.
The mind (Manas) does not manifest as thought itself; yet, the mind is present.
Knowledge (Jñāna) does not manifest as an object of knowledge; yet, knowledge is present.
Bliss (Ānanda) does not manifest as an experiencer; yet, bliss is present.
The “I” does not manifest as an individual ego (Ahaṅkāra); yet, “I Am” is present.
The universe (Jagat) does not manifest merely as an appearance; yet, the universe is present.
Sound (Śabda) does not manifest as a word, yet sound is present.
Light (Jyoti) does not manifest merely as that which dispels darkness; yet, Light shines.
Energy (Śakti) does not manifest merely as its various forms; yet, energy is present.
Thus:
“Pure Being does not itself manifest;
From its very being, all manifestations arise.”
This, perhaps, may be understood as the nature of Pure Being—Śuddha Sattā.
