Sri Krishna’s Rasa Lila:
During Sri Krishna’s Rasa Lila, one Gopi was positioned between two Krishnas, and one Krishna was positioned between two Gopis. As I reflected upon this Rasa Lila, I contemplated it in comparison with the profound principle described in the Vigynana Bhairava Tantra.
It is said that there is a subtle interval between the outgoing breath and the incoming breath, and likewise between the incoming breath and the outgoing breath. That subtle interval is Pure Awareness; it is the abode of Bhairava Sakti.
According to this understanding, the Gopīs represent the movements of Pranna within each individual. Thus, they are reflections—manifested reflections—of Pure Awareness.
The subtle interval between the two movements of Pranaas is supreme bliss, infinite bliss. This interval represents the formless nature of Sri Krishna.
It is from this subtle interval that Anahata Nada—the primordial sound that arises without the striking of two objects—emerges. This is the divine music of Sri Krishna’s flute: a sound beyond language and beyond the seven musical notes, continuously resonating within.
No living being—no reflection or manifestation—can remain untouched by the enchantment of this divine flute music.
When the Pranaas—the Gopis—hear this divine flute music, Sri Krishna stands at the center. As the flute music resounds, an inner manifestation of Pure Awareness occurs within those two subtle intervals. Between these two manifestations of Krishna stands a Gopi—that is, either the incoming breath or the outgoing breath.
Between every two movements of Pranaas, Sri Krishna—Pure Awareness—reveals Himself as a subtle, formless presence.
In other words, within every human being who has taken birth, the divine flute music of Sri Krishna is continuously resounding. When, through the grace of the Guru, a person’s- Pranaas become the Pranaas of a Gopi—when the Pranaas become inwardly prepared to receive that divine music—Sri Krishna Himself plays the flute for that person and performs the Rasa Lila with their Pranaas.
Through this, He bestows upon them the Kingdom of Mokṣa—the incomparable realm of Liberation: a state that cannot be compared with anything else in this world.
