Divine Power—”Seek It…”—Part 2
“There is a force within you that gives you life. Seek it.” This quote is widely attributed to Hazrat Rumi.
When a person, through the grace of the Guru, fully realises within oneself that operating power—the power that gives life to and animates the body formed of the eightfold Prakriti of earth, water, air, fire, space, mind, intellect, and ego, as well as the vital forces of Prana and Apana…
One may come to recognise that the power of movement of the cosmos, the operating power behind the movement of all the celestial bodies in the universe, the operating power of the five elements, and the operating power manifesting through all living beings, including the human body, is all an expression of that same operating power.
When this power is truly realised, all distinctions between the individual body (Pinda) and the cosmos (Andam) completely disappear. The entire universe is then experienced as a single field of operating power, as an eternal blissful state of potential energy.
Regarding this state of eternal bliss, the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad (4.3.21–30) contains the teachings of the sage Yajnavalkya:
“It is a state beyond all desires, free from sin and fearless. Just as a man embraced by his beloved wife knows nothing external or internal, so, in this state, the individual self, embraced by the Supreme Self, knows nothing else either outwardly or inwardly. It is a state in which all desires have been fulfilled, in which the Supreme Self alone is the object of desire, and in which there are no other desires or sorrows.”
“In that ultimate state of realisation, a father is no longer a father; a mother is no longer a mother; the worlds are no longer the worlds; the gods are no longer the gods; the Vedas are no longer the Vedas; a thief is no longer a thief; a murderer is no longer a murderer; an outcaste is no longer an outcaste; the lowly is no longer the lowly; a renunciate is no longer a renunciate; an ascetic is no longer an ascetic. In that state, one is untouched by merit, just as one is untouched by sin. For in that state, the individual self has gone beyond all the modifications and emotions of the mind.”
“In that state of eternal bliss, the Self—the operating power manifesting as all activity—does not see anything; yet, even while seeing, it does not see. The vision of the seer is not obstructed, because the seer, that operating power, is imperishable. There is nothing separate from it that can be considered a second.”
In the same way, it does not taste anything; yet, even while tasting, it does not taste.
It does not speak; yet, even while speaking, it does not speak.
It does not think; yet, even while thinking, it does not think.
It does not touch; yet, even while touching, it does not touch.
It does not know anything; yet, even while knowing, it does not know.
This is a state in which there is no division—like water that remains ever whole and undivided.
One who experiences this state becomes non-dual.

Movement → Operating Power → State of Eternal Bliss → Potential Energy
Movement (kinetic energy) is the phenomenon that we can outwardly observe.
Operating power (functional/operating power) is the inner power that enables that movement and functioning to take place.
For example, the heart beats—the phenomenon we observe is the movement of the heart.
But when we deeply inquire, “What is it that makes this beating happen? ”, the question goes beyond the mere movement and turns toward the power that is the source of that movement.
From a spiritual perspective, when we begin to sense and experience that inner power through the grace of the Guru, it no longer remains merely an idea or concept; it blossoms into direct inner realization (Anubhuti).
As this realization deepens, beyond the movement that appears externally, an unmoving foundational state begins to reveal itself. Conceptually, this foundational state may be compared to potential energy.
Ultimately, it is experienced as the formless foundational power—Brahman Shakti—beyond movement, beyond the power that makes movement possible, and beyond the experiencer himself.
Movement → Operating Power → Realisation → State of eternal bliss → Formless Brahman Shakti
Here, scientific terms are not being used as literal scientific equations but as analogies to help us understand and contemplate a deeper spiritual truth.
