“The divine breeze”
“I am the Wind among the Purifiers”:
The Vision of Inner Purity and the Bhagavad Gita In Vibhuti Yoga of Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 10, Verse 31), Sri Krishna asserts, “Of purifiers I am the wind.” Pavanaḥ Pavatām Asmi (पवनः पवतामस्मि). This is a very deep statement to think about . Spiritually and also in terms of our modern environment .
The Outer Wind and the Divine Wind:
Today the air around us is getting more and more polluted. How can the wind in such a universe still be conceived as the embodiment of purity, a manifestation of Krishna?
The secret is to know that the ‘wind’ that Krishna refers to is not only the physical element (Vāyu) among the five big elements (Pancha Bhutas). Instead, He refers to Prana—the universal life energy that animates the entire cosmos. The air we breathe is a filthy substance. But Krishna speaks of the realm of energy, of the vital life force which sustains all things. But though the outer air may be polluted, the Prāṇic force running through it is ever pure. “The light of the sun does not lose its lustre by falling on mud. In the same way the Prāṇa of the beginning can never be contaminated.“
This inner purity brings outer purity:
The wind is to purify both the inner being and the outward world, as the teachings of the Gita go. How can this be?
1.Purifying Prāṇa and Apāna:
In the yoga science, control of the breath is more than a physiological function. Prāṇāyāma is the sacred art of changing the common breath into a celestial vehicle. When the air we breathe is attuned to the sacred vibrations of mantra and the primal sound pranava (Om), the breath becomes charged with divine energy.
2. The House of Sri Krishna:
When Sri Krishna is the absolute essence of Prana (the arriving life energy) and Apana (the exiting vital force), then the breath can be perfectly purified. Otherwise that very same dirty air that is out there, creeps in here, too, and slowly impinges on body and mind alike.
3. The Impact of Inner Consciousness:
When a person sees Krishna as the very life within Prāṇa, and aligns the breath with its sacred frequency, and begins to regard every inhale and expiration as His divine favor, then the mind itself gets purified. Pure ideas lead to pure acts. Such a person lives in harmony with nature naturally, exploits or pollutes nature not. Thus, inner purity has the potential to modify outer purity.
As time passes, the refined consciousness of mankind can restore the purity of the air itself. This is the best and oldest service that any human being can provide to the world.
Conclusion:
One who perceives Krishna within the prāṇa can realise His sacred touch even in polluted air. The only way to regain the sanctity of the air is to breathe every breath with the awareness of Sri Krishna.
Śrī Kṛṣṇarpaṇam Astu. 🙏
