Ignorance breeds fear, and fear breeds hatred, which breeds acts that are opposed to virtue. As a result, disaster occurs.

According to Thirumoolar’s Thirumandiram, “To know oneself is to suffer no harm.”
Self-knowledge is the recognition of the vital energy that confirms one’s existence. When one is unable to achieve this knowledge, a sense of existential anxiety develops. This terror consumes one’s entire life. Fear leads to hatred, and hatred leads to behaviors that are antithetical to morality, resulting in disaster.

In contrast, once a person recognizes the vital energy that confirms their sense of being alive, love will automatically originate within them. Thirumoolar’s dictum, “He stands to worship himself,” is fulfilled when people act in virtue with their love.

“அறியாமையே மரணத்திற்குக் காரணம்.”
அறியாமை அச்சத்தை உண்டாக்குகிறது, அச்சம் வெறுப்பை உண்டாக்குகிறது, அந்த வெறுப்பு அறத்திற்கு எதிரான செயல்களை உண்டாக்குகிறது. இதன் விளைவாக, பேரழிவு ஏற்படுகிறது.

திருமூலரின் திருமந்திரத்தின்படி, “தன்னை அறியத் தனக்கொரு கேடில்லை”
தன்னறிவு என்பது ஒருவரின் இருப்பை உறுதிப்படுத்தும் உயிர் சக்தியை உணர்வதாகும். ஒருவரால் இந்த அறிவை அடைய முடியாதபோது, இருப்பு குறித்த ஒருவித பதட்டம் உருவாகிறது. இந்த அச்சம் ஒருவரின் முழு வாழ்க்கையையும் ஆட்கொள்கிறது. அச்சம் வெறுப்பிற்கு வழிவகுக்கிறது, வெறுப்பு அறத்திற்கு எதிரான நடத்தைகளுக்கு வழிவகுத்து, பேரழிவில் முடிகிறது.

இதற்கு மாறாக, ஒருவர் தனது உயிருணர்வை உறுதிப்படுத்தும் உயிர் சக்தியை உணர்ந்து கொண்டவுடன், அன்பு தானாகவே அவருக்குள் தோன்றும். மக்கள் தங்கள் அன்பின் மூலம் அறச் செயல்களில் ஈடுபடும்போது, “தன்னையே அர்சிக்கத் தானிருந் தானே” என்ற திருமூலரின் கூற்று நிறைவேறுகிறது.
