“I” exist without being a person.

“I” exist without being a person.
Here “I” refers to the god, guru, or soul that exists without being a person or any person. It means “I” is not aware of the presence of any person that appears on it, like the white screen, which is not aware of its scenes that appear on it.

Just as in profound slumber—where the presence of any individual is not perceived, yet the sense of “I” alone persists—so too in the waking state: although this “I” (consists of the God, Guru, or the Self) exists without being any specific individual, the illusory, non-existent identities of separate individuals—much like clouds gathering to obscure the sun—serve to conceal this very “I.”

Just as the Krishna Yajur Veda 40.8 states  that  “I” is Shivam (Auspiciousness, Pure Being);
sivo’ham sivo’ham nänyad asti kiñcana |
there is nothing else.
only that individual who possesses the capacity to dispel the veil of Maya cast upon them—thereby transcending their identity as a separate person—can truly unite and become one with “Shivam,” the essence of “I.”

Hazrat rumi says: “The pathless path opens when you genuinely say, ‘There is no reality in a person, but ‘I’ exist as God; there is only God.”

“நான்” ஒரு நபராக இல்லாமல் இருக்கிறேன்.
இங்கு “நான்” என்பது, ஒரு நபராகவோ அல்லது வேறு எந்த நபராகவோ இல்லாமல், இருக்கும் கடவுள், குரு அல்லது ஆன்மாவைக் குறிக்கிறது. அதாவது, தன் மீது தோன்றும் காட்சிகளை அறியாத ஒரு வெண் திரையைப் போல, “நான்” என்பது தன் மீது தோன்றும் எந்தவொரு நபரின் இருப்பையும் அறியாது.

ஆழ்ந்த நித்திரையில் எந்தவொரு தனி நபர்களின் இருப்பும் உணரப்படாமல் ,”நான்”  என்பது மட்டும் எவ்வாறு விளங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றதோ, அவ்வாறே விழிப்பு நிலையிலேயேயும்  “கடவுள் குரு அல்லது ஆன்மாவாக விளங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் ,”நான்”  என்பது எந்த ஒரு தனி நபராகவும் இல்லாமலேயே இருந்து கொண்டிருந்தாலும், மேகக் கூட்டங்கள் சேர்ந்து சூரியனை மறைப்பது போல், ஒவ்வொரு தனி நபர்களின் இல்லாத தன்மை கொண்ட மாயையாகிய தனித்தனி இருப்புக்கள், இந்த ,”நான்”  என்பதை மறைத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது.

கிருஷ்ண யஜுர் வேதம் 40.8-ல் ‘நான்’ என்பதே சிவம் (மங்களம், தூய இருப்பு) என்று கூறப்படுவதைப் போலவே;
சிவோ’ஹம் சிவோ’ஹம் நான்யத் அஸ்தி கிஞ்சன |
வேறு எதுவும் இல்லை.
எந்த ஒரு தனி நபர், தன் மீது விழுந்த மாய மறைப்பை நீக்கி, ஒரு நபராக இல்லாமல் இருக்கும் திறன் கொண்டவரோ அத்தகையவரே ,”நான்”  என்னும் ‘சிவத்துடன்’  ஐக்கியமாகி ஒன்றாக முடியும்.

ஹஸ்ரத் ரூமி கூறுகிறார்: “ஒரு ஒரு நபரிடத்தில் எவ்வித எதார்த்தமும் இல்லை; மாறாக, ‘நான்’ கடவுளாகவே இருக்கிறேன்; கடவுள் மட்டுமே உள்ளார்’ என்று நீங்கள் உள்ளன்போடு உரைக்கும்போது, ‘பாதையற்ற பாதை’ திறந்துகொள்கிறது.”
