A method for understanding “tat tvam asi”
“tat tvam asi” is a famous Veda Mahavakkiyam, meaning “That is you.” The Santokya Upanishad states this.
Tat: It means “that.” Brahman refers to the universal spirit. Tvam: It means “you,” individual soul. Asi: It means “you are” or “you are that.” Meaning: “You are that,” or “That is you.”
Rishi Yajnavalkya says this in Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 3:7:3. ‘He who dwells in the earth and within the earth, whom the earth does not know, whose body the earth is, and who rules the earth within, he is thyself, the ruler within, the immortal.”
Here, the Rishi Yajnavalkya’s denotation of the earth could be understood solely to the human body, given that every human body possesses the attributes of the earth. Therefore, we should integrate the aforementioned Upanishad passage with the famous Veda Mahavakkiyam, “You are that,” and understand it in the following manner.
(He, which represents “that”) He who is the aspect of the earth dwells in the body and inside of the body, which that body does not know it, but for whom the aspect of earth becomes the body, and who rules from within that body, that is your soul, the ruler within, antaryami, the immortal, “that is you.”
Similarly, ‘normal matter’ is made of atoms, which in turn are made of protons, neutrons, and electrons. The atomic particles are the building blocks of everything we see and that occupy merely 5% of the universal space, that is, which we can see, touch, and feel, like water, fire, space, air, planets like the sun, moon, and stars, directions, light, all living beings, all organs and their attributes, that is, the nose and breathing, mouth and talking, eyes and seeing, ears and hearing, body and touching, mind, intellect, genitals and sperm, and atoms.
‘Dark invisible matter,’ though it doesn’t interact with light, has mass and gravitational pull that is responsible for forming galaxies and cosmic structure, which occupies 27% of the universal space.
‘Dark invisible energy’ is a mysterious force causing the accelerated expansion of the universe, which dominates 67% of the universal space by opposing gravity force, which is responsible for the effect on the fate of the universe.
If everything is felt within, like the realization of earth, as mentioned in the above manner, “that is you.”
Then the “shivam,” which exists as ‘negative dark energy’ that drives cosmic acceleration, cosmic expansion, and energy,
“Sakthi,” which is described as ‘positive dark matter energy,’ plays a crucial role in creating gravitational structures and forming galaxies.
and the “human form,” which exists as ‘normal matter energy’ with limited cosmic influence from stars and planets,
Shivam-dark energy, Sakthi-dark matter, and Sundaram-human forms will all merge to become one infinite mass. If the universe can be realized in the human form, the immortal soul, antaryami, will manifest as “You are that.”
In conclusion, if someone repeatedly invokes the Pure Shivam as his pure inner consciousness in all three light states of sleeping, dreaming, and wakefulness with the termed sound of ‘Hu’ (“Hu” means invoking in Sanskrit), the consciousness that spreads and encompasses in the universe as dark energy, dark matter, and normal matter becomes infinite mass, self-aware within him, and immortal forever.
