“Grace” is of a nature that is present everywhere and at all times. It has no separate name, form, shape, color, time, or space of its own.
The “other world” referred to by Valluvar can be understood as the true state of life that is completely enveloped by such grace. For those who do not understand the nature of that Grace, life in this world itself becomes as though it exists and yet does not exist.
In other words, for those who are unable to understand the true nature of Grace and live in this world accordingly, Grace itself comes to be perceived as non-existent; and when Grace is absent from their awareness, the “other world” that is completely enveloped by Grace also becomes non-existent for them.
On the other hand, when a person, while still living in this world, comes to know and experience the true nature of Grace through Grace itself, that very moment makes them worthy of the Grace-filled state of life—the “other world.”
Thus, this may be taken as a true spiritual interpretation of this Thirukkural of Valluvar Peruman.
