Is Shivam a personal religious god or an attribute of the universal formless God of pure consciousness?
Albert Einstein once said, “I once thought that if I could ask God one question, I would ask how the universe began, because once I knew that, all the rest would simply be equations. But as I got older I became less concerned with how the universe began. Rather, I would want to know why he started the universe. For once I knew that answer, then I would know the purpose of my own life.”
Interpretation:
Sri Adi Sankara’s Advaita philosophy states that God of pure consciousness, called Shivam, never created the universe, but that the universe exists as a reflection of pure consciousness on its own, and that this continues with pure consciousness as Shivam perpetually. Perhaps Albert Einstein would have accomplished his purpose if he had mastered Adi Sankara’s philosophy.
Hazrat Rumi says, “Consciousness (Pure Shivam/Allah) sleeps in minerals, dreams in plants, wakes up in animals, and becomes self-aware in humans.”
As a result, what is to be understood from this is that Shivam is not a religious god but rather an attribute of formless pure consciousness. Those who have adhered to the Advaita ideology, like Rumi, the Sufi saint, would have realized that pure consciousness is God, which is the formless and omnipresent Shivam.
In conclusion, if anyone tries to understand the formless Shivam, the God of pure consciousness, scientifically like Albert Einstein or through any particular religion, they will get disappointment only at the end. Rather, if he practices Adi Shankara’s “Nirvana Chadagam,” he too can become a Shankara very soon.

சிவம் ஒரு தனிப்பட்ட மதக் கடவுளா அல்லது பிரபஞ்ச உருவமற்ற தூய உணர்வுள்ள கடவுளின் பண்புகளா?
ஆல்பர்ட் ஐன்ஸ்டீன் ஒருமுறை கூறினார், “கடவுளிடம் ஒரு கேள்வி கேட்டால், பிரபஞ்சம் எப்படித் தொடங்கியது என்று கேட்பேன் என்று ஒரு முறை நினைத்தேன், ஏனென்றால் அது எனக்குத் தெரிந்தவுடன், மற்ற அனைத்தும் சமன்பாடுகளாகவே இருக்கும். ஆனால் நான் வயதாகும்போது பிரபஞ்சம் எப்படித் தொடங்கியது என்பது பற்றிய கவலை எனக்குக் குறைந்து போனது. மாறாக, அவர் ஏன் பிரபஞ்சத்தைத் தொடங்கினார் என்பதை அறிய விரும்புவேன். அந்தப் பதிலை நான் அறிந்தவுடன், என் சொந்த வாழ்க்கையின் நோக்கத்தை நான் அறிவேன்.”
விளக்கம்:
ஸ்ரீ ஆதி சங்கரரின் அத்வைத தத்துவம், சிவம் என்று அழைக்கப்படும் தூய உணர்வுள்ள கடவுள் பிரபஞ்சத்தை ஒருபோதும் படைக்கவில்லை என்றும், பிரபஞ்சம் தானாகவே தூய உணர்வின் பிரதிபலிப்பாகவே உள்ளது என்றும், இது சிவம் போலவே தூய உணர்வோடு நிரந்தரமாகத் தொடர்கிறது என்றும் கூறுகிறது. ஒருவேளை ஆல்பர்ட் ஐன்ஸ்டீன் ஆதி சங்கரரின் தத்துவத்தில் தேர்ச்சி பெற்றிருந்தால் தனது நோக்கத்தை நிறைவேற்றியிருப்பார்.
ஹஸ்ரத் ரூமி கூறுகிறார், “உணர்வு (தூய சிவம்/அல்லாஹ்) கனிமங்களில் தூங்குகிறது, தாவரங்களில் கனவு காண்கிறது, விலங்குகளில் விழிக்கிறது, மனிதர்களில் தன்னைப் பற்றி அறிந்து கொள்கிறது.”
இதன் விளைவாக, சிவம் ஒரு மதக் கடவுள் அல்ல, மாறாக உருவமற்ற தூய உணர்வின் பண்பு என்பதை இதிலிருந்து புரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும். சூஃபி துறவி ரூமியைப் போல அத்வைத சித்தாந்தத்தைப் பின்பற்றியவர்கள், தூய உணர்வு என்பது கடவுள், அது உருவமற்ற மற்றும் எங்கும் நிறைந்த சிவம் என்பதை உணர்ந்திருப்பார்கள்.
முடிவில், ஆல்பர்ட் ஐன்ஸ்டீனைப் போல விஞ்ஞான ரீதியாகவோ அல்லது எந்தவொரு குறிப்பிட்ட மதத்தின் மூலமாகவும், உருவமற்ற சிவத்தை, தூய உணர்வின் கடவுளைப் புரிந்துகொள்ள யாராவது முயற்சித்தால், இறுதியில் மட்டுமே ஏமாற்றம் அடைவார்கள். மாறாக, ஆதி சங்கரரின் “நிர்வாண சதகம்” கருத்தை பயிற்சி செய்தால், அவரும் மிக விரைவில் சங்கரராக முடியும்.
