Rama is a combination of light and the object that it illuminates. Light has an unmanifested attribute, which is the soul, whereas the object it illuminates has a manifesting attribute, which is the body.
The following is an extract from the Isha Upanishad (12–14).The darkness that surrounds those who chant Rama’s name in form only is blinding, and the darkness that surrounds those who chant Rama’s name in formless solely is even darker.
The unmanifest (formless) signifies the light, soul, or potential energy, whereas the manifest (formful) represents the luminous body or kinetic energy. He who recites as ‘Ram Ram’ both in the potential energy of the illuminated soul and the kinetic energy of the luminous body at the same time gains crosses death through the kinetic energy, immortality via the potential energy, and becomes one with Rama’s cosmic power.
ராம என்பது ஒளி மற்றும் அது ஒளிரச் செய்யும் பொருளின் கலவையாகும். ஒளிக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தப்படாத பண்பு உள்ளது, அது ஆன்மாவாகும், அதேசமயம் அது ஒளிரச் செய்யும் பொருளுக்கு வெளிப்படும் பண்பு உள்ளது, அது உடல்.
பின்வருபவை ஈஷா உபநிடதத்திலிருந்து எடுக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு பகுதி (12-14). ராம நாமத்தை ரூபமாக மட்டுமே பார்த்து சொல்பவர்களைச் சூழ்ந்திருக்கும் இருள் குருட்டுத்தன்மை போன்றது, ராம நாமத்தை உருவமற்றதாக மட்டுமே ஜபிப்பவர்களை சூழ்ந்திருக்கும் இருள் இன்னும் ஆழமானது.
உருவமற்றது ஒளி, ஆன்மா அல்லது சாத்தியமான ஆற்றலைக் குறிக்கிறது, அதேசமயம் உருவமுடையது ஒளிரும் உடல் அல்லது இயக்க ஆற்றலைக் குறிக்கிறது. ஒளிமயமான ஆன்மாவின் ஆற்றல் மற்றும் ஒளிரும் உடலின் இயக்க ஆற்றல் இரண்டிலும் ‘ராம ராம’ என்று ஜபிப்பவன் ஒரே நேரத்தில் இயக்க ஆற்றலின் மூலம் மரணத்தையும், சாத்தியமானஆற்றல் மூலம் அழியாத தன்மையையும் பெறுகிறான், மேலும் ஸ்ரீராமனின் பிரபஞ்ச சக்தியுடன் ஒன்றி விடுகிறான்.
