The word ‘Ra’ means “light” or “brightness” in Sanskrit, and ‘Rama’ means “pure white light”. Ancient seers like Thirumoolar and Vallalar have praised this divine light as being pure white.
In a famous quote, the sage Yajnavalkya described Rama ( the light) as Athman, “he who dwells in the body and within the body,” adding, “Whom the body does not know, to whom the body becomes his body, and who pulls (rules) the body within him, he is thy self, Antharyaami, pure white light ” Brihadaranyaka Upanishad:7.3
Lord Rama, who will always be a bright light in everyone’s heart, is the source of that inner light, as stated in 7.3 of the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad. Ashtavakra Gita, Chapter 2, provides more confirmation of this statement.
“As I alone give light to this body, so I do to the world. As a result, the whole world is mine, or alternatively, nothing is.”
By maintaining an attitude of gratitude for one’s own body as a source of pure white light, anyone might earn the grace of Lord Rama, who resides within the body but is unseen.
In this way, Maruthanallur Sri Sadguru Swamigal, who discovered and established the Adhishtanam of Sri Bodhendra Mahan on today, the day before Sri Ramanavami, in the Aduthurai Perumal Temple, saw the bright Jyothi of Sri Raman within, mixed his body, and became one in SriRama Jyothi. So let’s remember to take advantage of the blessing on this day.
சமஸ்கிருதத்தில் ‘ரா’ என்றால் “ஒளி” அல்லது “பிரகாசம்” என்றும், ‘ராம’ என்றால் “தூய வெண்மை ஒளி” என்றும் பொருள். திருமூலர், வள்ளலார் போன்ற ஞானிகள் இந்த தெய்வீக ஒளியை தூய வெண்மையானது என்றே போற்றியுள்ளனர்.
ஒரு பிரபலமான மேற்கோளில், ரிஷி யாக்ஞவல்கிய முனிவர் ராமனை (ஒளியை) ஆத்மன் என்றே விவரிக்கிறார். “எவர் இவ்வுடம்பில் இருந்து கொண்டு உடம்பினுள் உறைகின்றாரோ, எவரை இவ்வுடம்பு அறிந்து கொள்ளவில்லையோ, எவருக்கு இவ்வுடம்பு உடலாயின்றதோ, எவர் இவ் உடம்பினுள் நின்று அதை ஆளுகின்றாரோ அவர்தான் உன்னுடைய ஆத்மா, அந்தர்யாமியாக ஒளிரும் ஶ்ரீராமன்.” பிருஹதாரண்யக உபநிஷத்:7.3
அதாவது பிருஹதாரண்யக உபநிடதத்தின் 7.3ல் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளபடி, அனைவரின் இதயத்திலும் எப்போதும் பிரகாசமான ஒளியாக இருக்கும் ஸ்ரீராமர், அந்த உள் ஒளியின் ஆதாரமாக இருக்கிறார். அஷ்டவக்ர கீதை, அத்தியாயம் 2, இந்தக் கூற்றை மேலும் உறுதிப்படுத்துகிறது.
“நான் மட்டும் இந்த உடலுக்கு ஒளி கொடுப்பது போல, நான் உலகத்திற்கும் செய்கிறேன். இதன் விளைவாக, முழு உலகமும் என்னுடையது, அல்லது மாற்றாக, எதுவும் இல்லை.”
எனவே ஒளியின் ஆதாரமாக ஒருவர் சொந்த உடலுக்கு நன்றி செலுத்தும் மனப்பான்மையை இடைவிடாது கடைப்பிடிப்பதன் மூலம், உடலில் வாழும் ஆனால் கண்களுக்கு புலனாகத ஸ்ரீராமரின் அருளைப் பெறலாம்.
இவ்வாறே ஆடுதுறைப் பெருமாள் கோவிலில் ஸ்ரீ ராமநவமிக்கு முந்தைய நாளான இன்று ஸ்ரீ போதேந்திர மகானின் அதிஷ்டானத்தைக் கண்டுபிடித்து ஸ்தாபித்த மருதநல்லூர் ஸ்ரீ சத்குரு ஸ்வாமிகள், ஸ்ரீ ராமனின் ஒளிமயமான ஜோதியைக் கண்டு, தன் உடம்பைக் கலந்து, ஸ்ரீராம ஜோதியில் ஒன்றானார். எனவே இந்த நாளில் ஆசீர்வாதத்தைப் பயன்படுத்திக் கொள்ள நினைவில் கொள்வோம்.
