There are no others when ‘I am’ not present. ‘I am’ is not aware in a deep sleep state; therefore, there are no others, but ‘I am’ aware of myself in a wake-up state, so there are others. In these two, which of these could be a true one?
Interpretation:
These worldly people were there before ‘I’ entered sleep and after ‘I’ woke up, and hence they might be present during my sleep too, implying that, when there is me or no me, the existence of others may be the true ones.
As an alternative metaphor, ‘awareness’ becomes the real reason for identifying myself and others in the waking state. But as this ‘awareness’ is not felt in the sleeping state, ‘I’ and others becomes cease to exist.
To summarize, the existence of myself and others is realized alone through consciousness, and so is the true consciousness of awareness. And hence, there is no “neither I nor others.”
“நானும் இல்லை மற்றவர்களும் இல்லை”
‘நான்’ இல்லாத போது மற்றவர்கள் இல்லை. ஆழ்ந்த உறக்க நிலையில் ‘நான் இருக்கிறேன்’ என்பது தெரியாது; எனவே, மற்றவர்கள் இல்லை, ஆனால் ‘நான்’ என்னை விழித்திருக்கும் நிலையில் அறிந்திருக்கிறேன், எனவே மற்றவர்களும் உள்ளனர். இந்த இரண்டில், எது உண்மையாக இருக்க முடியும்?
இந்த உலக மக்கள் ‘நான்’ உறங்குவதற்கு முன்பும், ‘நான்’ விழித்த பிறகும் இருந்தார்கள், அதனால் அவர்கள் என் உறக்கத்தின்போதும் இருக்கக்கூடும், அதாவது நான் இருக்கும்போது அல்லது நான் இல்லாதபோது, மற்றவர்களின் இருப்பு உண்மையாக இருக்கலாம்.
ஒரு மாற்று உருவகமாக, விழிப்பு நிலையில் என்னையும் மற்றவர்களையும் அடையாளம் காண ‘விழிப்புணர்வு’ உண்மையான காரணமாகிறது. ஆனால் தூங்கும் நிலையில் இந்த ‘விழிப்புணர்வு’ உணரப்படாததால், ‘நானும்’ மற்றவர்களும் இல்லாமல் போய்விடுகிறது.
சுருக்கமாகச் சொல்வதானால், நான் மற்றும் மற்றவர்களின் இருப்பு உணர்வு மூலம் மட்டுமே உணரப்படுகிறது, மேலும் விழிப்புணர்வின் உண்மையான உணர்வும் அதுவே. எனவே, “நானும் இல்லை மற்றவர்களும்” இல்லை.
“மவுன அஞ் செழுத்திலே வாசியேறி மெள்ளவே
வானளாய் நிறைந்தசோதி மண்டலம் புகுந்தபின்
அவனுநானு மெய்கலந்து அனுபவித்த அளவிலே
அவனுமுண்டு நானுமில்லை யாருமில்லை யானதே”.
