“After the death of the physical body, the mind remains inactive for some time, as in dreamless sleep when it remains worldless and therefore bodiless. But soon it becomes active again in a new world and a new body – the astral – till it assumes another body in what is called a ‘rebirth’. But the jani, the Self-realised man, whose mind has already ceased to act, remains unaffected by death. The mind of the jani has ceased to exist; it has dropped never to rise again to cause births and deaths. The chain of illusions has snapped for ever for him.” Be as You Are: The Teachings of Sri Ramana Maharshi
Srikrishna justifies this in the 9th Sloka of the third chapter of the Bhagavad Gita. “Karma, meaning mind-related karma, binds the world again and again and thereby causes it to fall into death again and again. But the world is unbound by yajnakarma performed by a self-realized man whose mind has already ceased to function. Death is thereby conquered, so Yajnakarma, son of O’ Kunti, is to be done in a proper manner, but without attachment to its fruit.
“உடலின் மரணத்திற்குப் பிறகு, மனம் கனவில்லா உறக்கத்தைப் போல சில காலம் செயலற்று இருக்கும், அது உலகமற்றதாகவும், அதனால் உடலற்றதாகவும் இருக்கும். ஆனால் விரைவில் அது மீண்டும் ஒரு புதிய உலகிலும், ஒரு புதிய உடலிலும், அது மற்றொரு உடலை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும் வரை செயலாற்றுகிறது. இது ‘மறுபிறப்பு’ என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. ஆனால் ஞானி, தன்னை உணர்ந்த மனிதன், யாருடைய மனம் ஏற்கனவே செயல்படுவதை நிறுத்திவிட்டதோ, அவர் மரணத்தால் பாதிக்கப்படாமல் இருக்கிறார். ஞானியின் மனம் இல்லாமல் போய்விட்டது; பிறப்பு இறப்புகளை உண்டாக்கும் வகையில் மீண்டும் உயராதபடி அது குறைந்துவிட்டது. மாயைகளின் சங்கிலி அவருக்கு என்றென்றும் அறுந்துவிட்டது.” நீங்கள் இருப்பது போல் இருங்கள்: ஸ்ரீ ரமண மகரிஷியின் போதனைகள்.
ஸ்ரீகிருஷ்ணர் பகவத் கீதையின் மூன்றாம் அத்தியாயமான 9 ஆம் ஸ்லோகத்தில் இதை நியாயப்படுத்தியுள்ளார். “கர்மா, அதாவது மனம் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட கர்மா, உலகத்தை மீண்டும் மீண்டும் பிணைத்து, அதன் மூலம் மீண்டும் மீண்டும் மரணத்தில் விழ வைக்கிறது. ஆனால், மனம் ஏற்கனவே செயல்படுவதை நிறுத்திய தன்னை உணர்ந்த மனிதனால் செய்யப்படும் யக்ஞகர்மாவால் உலகம் கட்டுப்படாமல் உள்ளது. அதன் மூலம் மரணம் வெல்லப் படுகிறது , எனவே ஓ’ குந்தியின் மகன் யக்ஞ கர்மாவை சரியான முறையில் செய்ய வேண்டும், ஆனால் அதன் பலனில் பற்று இல்லாமல்.
