The individual engrossed in the concept of “I-am-the-body” is the greatest sinner, and he is a suicidal individual. Instead The experience of “I-am-the-self” is the highest virtue. Even a moment’s dhyana to that effect is enough to destroy all the sanchita karma. It functions similarly to the sun, dispelling darkness before it. If one remains always in dhyana, can any sin, however heinous it may be, survive his dhyana?

Interpretation:
Experiencing “I am that self” is critical. Hazrat Rumi, the Sufi saint, states, “Give yourself to the one who already owns your breath and moments.” That is, everyone’s breath belongs to the self, which already possesses it. The self is an unchangeable force. Therefore, by inhaling and exhaling with the awareness that each breath is a part of Shakti, and as stated in Taittirîyaka-Upanishad: Part 3:7, “Let him never abuse food; that is the rule. Breath is food; the body consumes it. The body rests on the breath; the breath rests on the body. This is the food resting on food.”

Consequently, the body, nourished by the breath, will also perceive itself as Shakti, the self. When everything transforms into the true force, it will destroy all their sanchita karmas, which is the cause of rebirth, liberate him from the cycle of rebirth, and thus free him from sin and suicidal individuals.
