Are marriages made in Heaven ?

It is an age-old notion that marriages are made in heaven, but is this true?

It is common knowledge that heaven is available only to meritorious souls and that it is blessed by the Lord. To be so, such sacred, heavenly-made marriages must continue in heaven not only until the end of their lives but beyond.

However, this is not happening in today’s practice. Why is it that the marriage link breaks even before it begins to strengthen? Either the betrothed spot in heaven or the bride and groom must be illusions.

Marriages are not made in heaven; rather, they are contracted on earth in order to qualify for paradise! That is, by uniting two like-minded souls under the guidance of good people who are leading such a home life to continue in heaven even after the end of this worldly life as a smelling divine marriage (the word Thiru in Tamil means divinity), and if marriages are fixed in this world for the sake of heaven, they will be smelled beyond time!

Thiru Valluvar’s code for such good people is

 “Anbum Aranum Udaithaayin Ilvaazhkkai

Panbum Payanum Adhu,” and it is for those who live according to the thirukkural.

It is true that marriages conducted unscented, like multicolored paper flowers, without the guidance of such wonderful people would never be approved in heaven, and if the colors fade, they will become worthless for the wedding life in this world!

In conclusion, marriages are not made in heaven, but made for heaven could be the true sentence.
