According to Prasnopanishad (5:6), the three letters of AUM are mortal when pronounced alone, but when these are joined together in Pranamaya Yoga and pronounced properly in the external, internal, and intermediate positions, the knower does not tremble.
Of the three letters of the syllable AUM,
‘A’ represents the earth, the body, and the waking state.
‘U’ represents the intermediate space, the breath, and the dream state.
‘M’ represents heaven, the soul, and a deep sleep state.
All these trinity letters emit distinct sounds with different frequencies.
The legendary Siddha Thirumoolar applied this trinity of letters to build the Trika Shaivism system through the Tamil language. In the Tirumantra, he refers to the ‘A’ letter as body, ‘U’ as consciousness, and ‘M’ as mantra, which is sung as ‘consciousness that stood about the body was a mantra.’
According to Sri Adisankara’s Advaita Vedanta, the liberated state of Atma-Brahman is the true identity of human beings. According to Sankara, no human effort can create this state of liberation because it already exists. That is, the trinity of letters ‘A, U, M’ are all united and born as Pranava as liberated beings, but a very few only realize the truth that “I am the form of voice and light that doesn’t use words and fuel”.
But Sri Ramanujar split this trinity of letters into Chit (consciousness, the breath ), Achit (non-consciousness, the body ) and Ishvara (the supreme self) to establish the Vishishtadvaita as a redaction of Trika Shaivism and Advaita for easy handling. He refers to the ‘A’ letter as Achit, or body; ‘U’ as Chit, or finite soul; and ‘M’ as Ishvara, or mantra. Ramanuja believed that the existence of the breath and matter were dependent on Ishvara who also resides in the nabik kamalam in the body of every human beings.
Similarly, Sri Madhvacharya divided the trinity of letters into two to form the Dvaita siddhanta. His worldview holds that the soul is separate from God, despite the fact that God created the soul. He refers to the letters ‘A’ and ‘U’ as the body and the soul, and ‘M’ as Brahman, or mantra. Madhvacharya believed that vayu, the combination of body and consciousness, is jeevatma and is dependent on Hari, the Sarvothman.
In the Bible, the Father of the Almighty is referred to as Pita. His son Sudhan, the Holy Angel, is also said to be the Holy Spirit. Similarly, in the Trinitarian alphabet, the letter ‘A’ refers to sudhan, or body; the Holy Spirit, or breath, as’U’; and ‘M’ is also used for denoting Pita, or the word of God. This is referred to in the Bible as “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1).
Islamic Sufism reflects the same principles as Shankara’s Advaita Vedanta. That is, ‘there is no god but the formless God.’ The Prophet(s) confirmed the importance of seeing the signs of the self by saying, “He who knows himself (body and soul) knows his Lord.” Similarly, in the Trinitarian alphabet, the letter ‘A’ is used to refer to the body; life breath is ‘U’; and ‘M’ is also used as the formless Lord.
Finally, every major religion may have its origins in the Trinitarian system, which must have emerged in Central Asia. It could have traveled east and west from there. Vedic civilization may have started with people who traveled to the East, much as Old Testament, Christianity and Islam may have originated with those who went to the West.
And hence, though the paths described to immortality may seem to differ among these scholars, all these lead to the Trinity words of Pranawa, which are the sole true path for all mankind.
No matter what religion one is born into, their ultimate goal is to become the sound of the unified trinity—that is, the union of the Earth body, the breath of intermediate space, and the soul of the heavenly world—that is, to experience the state of Durya, which transcends the states of waking, dreaming, and deep sleep—that is, to attain the state of pure consciousness and immortality. This is the ultimate goal of every religion.
So no one needs to migrate from one religion to another; there is no such thing as lower or higher religions. In other words, when immortality is attained, images, names, and even religions disappear, and only pure consciousness remains.
